Workshop description: This full-day workshop involves lecture, discussion, and hands-on experimenting with the natural dyes of reds and yellows. Students will be introduced to the history, resources for these dyes, process of preparation, making of the dyes, and proper finishing. Students will participate in all aspects of the process including making their own samples using both protein and cellulose materials. In addition, students will be able to over-dye with their samples, extending the color palette. The instructor will provide each student with a materials packet for dyeing as well as a booklet of resources, recipes, and natural dye information.
Materials Fee: $15.00 covers dyes, fibers, etc.
Student supply list: Students are to bring protective wear; instructor will send details.
Skill level: No experience is needed.
