Workshop description: This workshop takes the student through the process of creating book covers that stand alone as an art piece. There are four separate pages using various techniques such as fabric weaving, Saori weaving, collage, and embroidery. A sewing machine is recommended for this workshop, but it is not necessary as the steps can also be stitched by hand. The goal is to complete the project in a day.
Materials fee: $7.50 includes Peltex, felt, cheese cloth, Misty Fuse, and 3 dowels.
Student supply list: Students are to bring batik fabrics, yarn, and embellishing supplies in a color palette of their choice, as well as standard sewing supplies. A sewing machine, along with an extension cord, is recommended but not necessary. If you choose to hand sew the project, bring a pair of jewelry pliers to help. A more detailed supply list will be provided to registered students.
Skill level: Students should be confident beginner to intermediate.
