Workshop description: This is a quick way for students to learn how to spin cotton and to learn the long draw method. Students will learn to spin the spindle properly to get the ultimate speed out of the tool. Then, students will learn to handle the cotton to give them control of the thickness, twist, and storage of the yarn on the spindle. Finishing techniques will include removal of yarn, storage, and usage.
Materials Fee: $45.00 (cash) covers a kit with a takli spindle, support dish, a storage bobbin, instruction sheet, and ample cotton slivers for use in the class.
Student supply list: Students do not need to bring supplies.
Skill level: No prior experience needed.
